I am here in my new home and I found a place to live, but, have to pay my bills so need to find a job. I worked at various things and loved 3 of them. I worked at Yad Vashem, which is (Hebrew: יָד וַשֵׁם‎) is Israel's official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust. ... Established in 1953, Yad Vashem is on the western slope of Mount Herzl, also known as the Mount of Remembrance, a height in western Jerusalem, 804 meters (2,638 ft) above sea level and adjacent to the Jerusalem Forest.
When I went for the interview I looked at the view and the view is breathtaking. Maybe it is weird to say that because of what Yad Vashem is, but, I could not get over it. I got the job and worked in a bookstore there. We had books, Jewish things for the holidays, post cards, etc. The post cards were of the Jews in the camps and suvivors would come in and show me where they were in the postcards. It was really something. It was really something to meet survivors. They would have groups come to visit and had a place where they taught teachers and others how to teach the Holocaust to students. There was an administrative building, a cafeteria and the museum. When the Pope came to visit only certain people could be there. I did not see him. In 2000 during the 2nd intifada there were not many visitors so the bookstore where I worked closed down. They renovated Yad Vashem and changed the museum and put in a different bookstore and I had to look for a new job.
I thought I would put in what Yad Vashem looks like now and how I described it with the words underneath the picture:

I learned a computer graphic course and went around asking people if they would like to put my things in the store and when they sold we would decide what I got and what they would get. I went into a Thrift Shop and asked the manager and instead of putting my things he gave me a job. I really enjoyed meeting the people that came in and those that volunteered and the staff. I was one of the staff. We got in things that were used and that were new. It made me appreciate thrift shops after that. If I was there and something came in that I needed then I would buy it. I bought a down coat in great condition and other things that I was looking for that I could not find anywhere else here. We did not make enough money so we had to close down. There were people that were broken up about it and there were those that tried to find another  location so we could open our own, but, no luck. I saw the opportunity to see what I learned in computer graphics to start selling my things. It did not go so well at first and I learned a lot along the way how to be more professional. I dressed in one of my t-shirts hoping someone would be interested and want me to make one for them, but, I only sold one thing and then learned in order to be serious and for people to take you seriously I had to dress professionally and also to buy things to sell because most of my things did not sell that I made.
I went to a place where I would sell a couple of days a week and rent a table and then when I got my receipt books then I could start. I had to get to know the people that work there and the ones that come in
for the lecttures and movies to see if  they would buy from me. Also, they wanted to make sure if I was staying or not so would watch me. Others sold there and left. After almost 12 years I am still selling there. My clientele has dwindled down and not making much so need to find other ways on the computer at home to make extra money.

The other thing that is important is meeting people and making friends. I have met lots of different types of people here. I met a Jordanian once and he asked me out and I told him no. In the beginning I was feeling my way in my new home and so just met people and was not sure if they would be in my life forever or for a period of time. When I stayed at the apartment-hotel I met this elderly couple and we became friends and made friends with someone that worked there and she had a doberman named Donna. It goes to show you cannot judge a dog till you meet them. She was the nicest dog. I also met people that were supposed to be Jews but they believed in the one we do not believe in. I found myself in a room full of them and me being the only authentic Jew in the bunch. They would tell their stories and did not sound much different then my feelings growing up about Judaism. I was always a proud Jew, but, I did have my rebellious stage, but, I never would not be a Jew. I was born a Jew and will always be a Jew. So, one said she went in the closet and read their bible and then she saw the light. I thought it was all bull to me. I learned to stay away from them. I met friends when I worked at the Thrift Shop and some of them have remained my friends. Where I sell I also made friends and on face book I reconnected with a friend I lost touch with and now we are back on track and I am glad and made other friends and one so far has come to visit Israel and we met in person. So, this is what you get so far in my journey.
I will give you my e-mail address again just in case you do not have it from my introduction. It is: hannihar@gmail.com.
Thank you,
Till next time
